The World Health Organisation states, ‘The right to health must be enjoyed without discrimination on the grounds of race, age, ethnicity or any other factor’.

Two of our partners are working to make this a reality for their community.

Since 1951, Wenchi Methodist Hospital in Ghana has been working to provide affordable, quality healthcare. In recent years, the Hospital has expanded its work to include specialist services such as urology and orthopaedics.

The importance of mental health and wellbeing has become increasingly relevant in places like Palestine. East Jerusalem YMCA run a counselling service for children, young people and families impacted by the ongoing unrest and violence in the area.

A holistic approach to health care is vital as we work to make the world better, for everyone.

Meet mona

Head of Counselling and Supervision at East Jerusalem YMCA

“Our counselling programme has progressed in YMCA from working with just the young person, to now working with their families too. For so long there was stigma around disability, it was a shameful thing. But attitudes have changed.

It’s the same with counselling; When I started working and offering counselling, there wasn’t acceptance but now people ask for counselling. We kept trying to bring more awareness. There are so many success stories that people see now that it is needed.

My job is not a ‘job’ for me. It’s something I love and belive in. The smile on a child’s face is the best. Hearing a mother thank us for bringing her child back to life… it’s priceless! We are bringing hope back in to people’s lives.

When people don’t have hope, life and death is the same.”

“We say God richly bless all of you for donating and raising donations to help humanity.”
