EJ-YMCA runs several programmes, one of which is their Rehabilitation Programme which currently impacts 1,400 young people.
It was begun in 1989 and provides quality rehab services to youth who have physical or psychological disabilities due to political violence, accidents or congenital diseases.
In the West Bank, Palestine, there is little support for young people with disabilities or suffering trauma. WDR currently helps EJ-YMCA staff integrate such adolescents and children into society through a holistic approach: physical and psychological rehabilitation, vocational skills training and education and mobilisation around rights.
WDR has also recently provided capacity building to the organisation (and other therapy practitioners) through training in art & drama therapy and up-skilling in trauma counselling.
The aim is that young people will be able to overcome systemic hurdles, find their niche in society again, be happy and progress in life.

“For the first time, I feel normal and capable of achieving the incredible things I’ve always desired. My disability will not prevent me from achieving success.”
