Tackling Global Poverty
with people, not projects
As Christians, we believe everyone should be free from poverty and free to live life in all its fullness. We are led by our partners who know their context, problems and solutions, better than we ever could. They are the visionaries and it is our privilege to walk alongside them.
Nepal Floods Response
In light of the devastating floods in Nepal, WDR has provided an immediate emergency grant of £3,000 (€3,500) to our partner, Kopila Nepal based in Pokhara.
NGOs in the country are being asked to help in whatever way they can. This emergency funding will enable Kopila to respond by providing counsellors and carers to local hospitals, supporting survivors and families who have lost loved ones.
Many Kopila staff are social workers and are well equipped to offer this expert care. In Bina Silwal's (Director of Kopila) words, Kopila staff are there to support those with "tearful eyes and painful hearts".
We are thankful that Kopila’s own work has not been directly impacted and that all their staff are safe.
If you would like to support the wider relief effort, we would encourage you to donate through our sister agency, Christian Aid Ireland's Appeal.
What if the thing you love doing could change someone’s life?
Step Up is WDR’s invitation to turn everyday passions into purposeful action!
Whether it’s a coffee morning, sponsored walk, bake sale, quiz night, craft fair, or a reading challenge, you can use what you love to support WDR partners tackling global poverty.
There’s no set challenge, just choose your activity, set your goal, and make it your own!
Families, churches, youth groups, and individuals can all get involved together,
Every Step Up event helps provide clean water, food security, education, and opportunities for communities around the world.
Last year, supporters raised £28,000/€32,300 so we’re looking forward to another great Step Up campaign!
