Second term in Uganda

MCI Mission Associate Gavin Taylor shares an update from Uganda, where he is serving with Engineering Ministries International (EMI).

After a few weeks break in Ireland, I am just beginning my second term serving with EMI in Uganda. There is a mostly new group of interns this term, so it has been good to get to know them over the last couple of weeks. We spent the first week in the office going through orientation, which I did last year as well. It was a great refresher to look through mission, culture, and the heart of EMI in Uganda, while also having a chance to get settled again. Everything is definitely starting to feel familiar once more, and I am glad to be back at work and life here.

Things have quickly gone back to full speed since then, as I've been back helping at the KIC Youth Club, playing guitar in church, and working away in the office. In addition to my engineering work, I have been asked to help organise the weekly office worship times. I was so encouraged at youth club last week when one of the teens asked me "But why did God send Jesus down to earth in the first place?" It is wonderful to see that this still quite new club is getting to the point where the young people feel comfortable enough to ask deeper questions. They do wonder these things, they just need trust to be built up before they get vulnerable enough to ask. It is such an important and formative age, and it is such a privilege to walk alongside young people in thinking about life's biggest questions.

Please be praying for the work of EMI in Uganda, specifically for the ministries we support in the gospel work that they do. Pray that God would provide the strength and resources they require to do the work he has set before them. Pray also for unity on the EMI team, and that we will fully trust God to bear fruit through the work we are doing here.

Thanks,

Gavin
