Celebrating Local Preachers in Ireland and Togo

Earlier this month, on MCI’s Southern District, the South East Leinster Circuit held their Local Preachers Celebration service. Rev Andrew Dougherty, Southern District Superintendent led the service, with an inspiring address from MCI Lay Leader Mr Tom Wilson.

An invitation was sent to the Église Methodiste du Togo (EMT) to join this celebration virtually.

Following the service, President of the Methodist Church of Togo, Rev Godson Lawson Kpavuvu sent this message:

Dear Madam Heather,
Greetings from Lomé!!!!!!
I would like to thank you personally and on behalf of the Methodist Church of Togo for the vitality of our partnership with MCI and for the activities that enrich us both. 37 lay preachers from the EMT, including 13 women, took part in the service from the meeting room of  the office of the EMT President. Some of them even travelled from other districts to watch the event.  It was an important moment for all participants.

I'm pleased  to send you this message to express the gratitude of the EMT.

Rev Godson Lawson Kpavuvu

Heather Brown, District Local Preachers Coordinator on the Southern District, commented, “It is good to be working with our brothers and sisters in Togo and we are going to follow this up with a Bible Study for Advent.”

It is encouraging to see this District Link growing and developing as both churches continue to learn from and pray for one another.
