Comber Methodist Church

North EASTERN district

Over the past few years, Comber Methodist Church has seen steady and gracious growth, and the church family believes this is thanks to God’s ongoing blessing.

Comber Methodist, Easter Sunday 2025

This growth has shown up in lots of ways: deeper discipleship among a small but faithful congregation, a growing children’s ministry, more people coming along to Sunday services, and growth in finances.

A few years back, the church was reminded of a verse from 1 Corinthians 3:7:

“It’s not important who does the planting or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.”

That verse has really stuck with them and continues to remind the congregation that it’s God who brings the growth—not just human effort.

Everyone at Comber Methodist is so thankful for the small seeds that have been planted over time—seeds that are now beginning to grow and take root. This progress hasn’t happened in isolation. The church has been really grateful for the support from the other two churches in their circuit, who’ve put in time, energy, and people to help grow the children’s ministry. Together, they’ve seen God at work through things like Messy Church, Holiday Bible Clubs, and BLAST!—a weekly discipleship group for kids in P1–P7.

In recent months, several new families, couples, and individuals have made Comber Methodist their church home. Their presence has brought fresh energy and gifts to church life. Among them are two families who have moved from Africa, bringing six children between them. They’ve added a vibrant new feel to both Sunday worship and midweek activities.

Due to recent growth, the church recently got the go-ahead from the Property Board to start exploring the possibility of extending the building. As they look to the future, there’s a strong sense of gratitude for how God has been at work. The growth might be slow and steady at times, but it’s real—and it’s exciting. The church continues to trust that when seeds are sown, God is the one who makes them grow.
