Dún Laoghaire Methodist Church
southern district
Dun Laoghaire Methodist Church has been blessed by new families like Egbe and Glory from Nigeria.
Egbe, Glory and Ibeneemi
Their son, Ibeneemi was born here and baptised in the church, joyfully adding his voice to the worship! They have become active and valuable members bringing new life and energy. Egbe is a welcome addition to the tech team, facilitating on-line streaming of our service.
We asked Glory and Egbe three questions:
Tell us why you started attending Dun Laoghaire Methodist Church?
When we arrived Ireland in 2023, on one of the calls back home my dad had asked for us to find a Methodist church and identify with. So, to honour him, we did a google search and Dun Laoghaire Methodist church popped up. Our original plan was to fulfil my dad's wish and move on to other things - but it's difficult to come to Dun Laoghaire Methodist church and not want to come again and again.
You now live 22km away, why have you continued attending Dun Laoghaire rather than a closer church?
From the first day we walked into the church, we knew we'd come again. The people in church were genuinely excited to have us and we could feel a genuine desire to integrate us into the church family.
When we had one of the toughest challenges with our immigration journey, we received from the brethren, the kind of support you can only get from family.
Worshiping in Dun Laoghaire gives us a sense of home. Also the quality of teaching we get, feeds our spiritual needs.
Dun Laoghaire Methodist Church is our home.
How can churches better integrate new members?
CARE – We think that most people have the need for genuine care.
We think that most people would come again if they feel “seen” and cared for.
