JMA 2022-23: With God You Can
THIS YEAR, JMA TAKES US ON A JOURNEY TO EGYPT AND FOCUSES ON THE WONDERFUL WORK OF THE BIBLE SOCIETY OF EGYPT.
The Bible Society of Egypt, led by Amir Elhamy, works across the country to resource Christians and share God's love with all of God’s people. They run eighteen bookshops, have a staff of 220 people and, as we learn through JMA, have a very busy summer schedule running their “Kingo Festivals”.
Kingo is a big, friendly lion who loves to teach children and families about the Bible! He is a well-known and very popular character in Egypt; thanks to a partnership with a local Christian TV station, Kingo’s Bible message is now broadcast to more than ten million viewers.
Funds raised by JMA from September 2022- June 2023 will be sent to the Bible Society of Egypt to support their children's work and particularly their ministry through Kingo resources. Funds will pay for Kingo resource packages to be sent to groups of Sunday school children across Egypt. These packages contain workbooks, illustrated Bible Story books, teaching guides, a USB drive with episodes of Kingo’s TV show, crafts and games.
Our Bible focus this year is 1 Samuel 17 and the story of David and Goliath. We will look at David's faith and his confidence that when God was with him, not even a giant could stand in his way.
It is our hope and prayer that children, young people and church families will be encouraged by this year's JMA as we learn about Egypt, the important work of the Bible Society and the reminder that with God on our side, we can overcome any challenge.
Through World Mission Partnership, Irish Methodists continue to work the Bible Society in Northern Ireland, supporting Bible translation in Portugal, and Bible distribution in Cuba.
