Hope in Haiti

Years of gang wars and violent attacks have had a devastating impact on those who call Haiti home: displacing over 1 million people and causing thousands of deaths.

This unrest and uncertainty is right on the doorstep of the church in Port au Prince. In February, just a few miles from the Methodist Church, armed gangs launched an attack, killing residents in the Delmas 30 neighbourhood, with at least 15 people reported dead.

This violence and brutality on the streets of Haiti is in stark contrast to what God is doing in the local church. This video shows young people singing praise joyfully at a recent Youth Camp. There is hope still in Haiti!

The Youth Camp service was held at Freres Church, with young people from the three Circuits in the greater Port-au-Prince area (Carrefour, Port au Prince and Petionville) attending.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti as they face the ongoing threat to their lives, we pray for the dismantling of these gangs, for order to be restored and for God to bring peace to this nation that has suffered so much.

Thanks to Bishop Jean Lesly Dorcely for sending through this video from the Youth Camp in Haiti.
