Bishop David Ntogohyna visits Ireland from Uganda

With the strong and enduring relationship between MCI and the Methodist Church in Uganda, this year has provided a wonderful opportunity to deepen existing ties and forge new connections with our friends there. We were delighted to welcome Bishop David Ntogohyna and his wife Peninah to Ireland at the end of October, building on the relationships strengthened during WMP Officer David Nesbitt’s visit to Uganda in July.

There was a packed schedule full of meetings and quality time spent together:

  • The Bishop and Peninah were able to meet with Rev Alan Wardlow (MCI President), Elaine Barnett (MCI Lay Leader), Rev Heather Morris (MCI General Secretary), and Rev Andrew Dougherty (MCI District Superintendent) at Edgehill.

  • Time was spent at Autumn Soul with IMYC to learn about MCI’s Youth & Children’s Strategy.

  • Thomas Street Methodist Church held a Uganda Connection event, alongside MWI, where old friends and new could connect and learn about what God is doing in and through the Methodist Church in Uganda.

  • Bishop David and Peninah had the opportunity to visit the Container Ministry warehouse, sharing wonderful stories of God’s provision.

  • Our time together came to a close with a sit down dinner with the WMP Committee, where we heard from Bishop David about the hopes and plans for the church in Uganda and how we can learn and support each other in the coming years.

Thank you to all who hosted, provided transport, meals, met with the Bishop and Peninah and travelled long distances to events. A special thank you to Bishop David and Peninah for taking the time to meet with us, sharing valuable insights and learnings - together, growing God’s world church.
