Bible Society visit

Iga, David & Ramez

WMP works in partnership with the Bible Society Northern Ireland, in their mission to “reach everyone with God’s word in a language and format they can access and afford, so that each person might experience God’s purpose for their life.”

The Methodist Church in Ireland recognises the unique power of God’s word, and we’re currently supporting Bible translation in Portugal and Bible distribution in Cuba, through the Bible Society Northern Ireland.

This year, we’ve developed a further link through our JMA resource which focuses on the hugely successful Kingo project run by the Bible Society of Egypt.

World Mission Partnership Coordinator, David Nesbitt, recently met with staff from Bible Societies in Northern Ireland, Egypt and Poland.

Catherine Hillcox is the General Secretary of the Bible Society NI, Iga Zalisz is her counterpart in Poland, and Ramez Atallah is the retired General Secretary of the Bible Society of Egypt. It was great to hear more about the Bible Society's work across the world, including children’s camps in Poland and the Bible Society NI’s “Bibles for Babies”.

It was especially interesting to hear Ramez's first-hand account of how Kingo has been such an effective tool for children's ministry in Egypt: this year’s JMA collection will be used to support that work, and it’s a privilege for Irish Methodists to play a part in such an important form of teaching and youth evangelisation.

If you’d like to learn more about JMA, or get involved, you can download the resource here (link) or contact David via worldmission@irishmethodist.org
