Junior Mission for All (JMA)
JMA is an educational programme for children, to help them understand and engage with their role in God’s global mission. It allows them to hear from children in other parts of the world and encourages them to learn about, pray for and serve the worldwide church.
Each year children in the Methodist Church in Ireland raise funds for a world church partner or programme.
JMA runs from September - June and can be used with any children’s group in your church, uniformed organisations or by families at home. We contact our JMA leaders a few times during the year. Please let us know if you’re using JMA so we can add you to our list to share updates throughout the year.
JMA 2024-25: FAITH TRANSFORMS THE WORLD
This year, THROUGH JMA, WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT THE CHURCH IN SIERRA LEONE.
We’ll be learning about the Methodist Church in Sierra Leone, and particularly the work of the Methodist Association of Sunday Schools (M.A.S.S.). Sierra Leone is a vibrant country in West Africa with a rich history. Christians are a minority in Sierra Leone, where most of the population are Muslims.
The Methodist Church in Sierra Leone plays an important role in society, demonstrating God’s love in a very practical way. Schools and hospitals are key parts of their ministry. Founded almost ten years ago, M.A.S.S. oversees the work of Methodist Sunday Schools across Sierra Leone.
Come along with us as we meet Rachel and Sylvester Deigh, Mission Partners living in Freetown who are serving the church in Sierra Leone. Learn more about the history and culture of this beautiful country and how the people have been rebuilding their lives post-war. And find out how you can support Sunday Schools across Sierra Leone through our fundraiser for M.A.S.S.
100% of funds raised by JMA from between September 2024 and June 2025 will be sent to the Methodist Association of Sunday Schools (M.A.S.S.). Funds will be used for for training new Sunday School teachers, improving the M.A.S.S. curriculum and creating a collection of hymns especially for children.
Our Bible focus this year is the story of Moses crossing the Red Sea. We’ll learn how, even though he was scared, Moses and the people of Israel put their faith in God and their whole world was transformed!
We hope and pray that children, young people and church families will be encouraged by this year’s JMA as we learn about Sierra Leone and the work of the Methodist Church there, and are reminded that through God, our faith can transform the world!
