Seymour Street, Lisburn

NORTH EASTERN DISTRICT

James, Clare and Freddie

Over the past few years at Seymour Street Methodist in Lisburn and especially in the past 12 months, there has been an increase in those attending on Sunday mornings.

Some of that growth has come through friendships made through programmes such as, the Wellbeing group, Community Fridge, Youth Club and other initiatives, but most of those who have joined the congregation over this time have just ‘turned up’.

One such family are James, Clare and Freddie, who have been worshipping in Seymour Street for over 6 months.

They initially came to attend the funeral of a neighbour and friend that was being held in the church.  Following this first visit to Seymour Street, James and Clare, along with Freddie decided to come back on a normal Sunday morning for worship at the 10am service.

(Since 2021, the Seymour Street congregation have been worshipping across two morning services: a 10am contemporary service and 11.30am traditional service.)

James and Clare said that they felt very welcome in the church and enjoyed the relaxed modern worship style, along with the youth programme on offer for Freddie which runs alongside the earlier service.

All three of them have become regular worshippers on a Sunday morning and have enjoyed meeting new people and becoming involved in the life of the congregation.  It is a real joy to observe them, and other new individuals and families, enrich the life of our church family as we seek to live wholeheartedly as followers of Jesus together.
