Lay Leader arrives in Vancouver

Vancouver, coming into land

Lay Leader, Elaine Barnett has arrived in Vancouver ahead of her visit with the United Church of Canada, which came together in 1925, through a union of Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational churches - one of the first ecumenical unions in the world.

Elaine will be accompanied by Sandra Lopez (Partnership Coordinator for the Americas) of the Global Relationships Team, Methodist Church in Britain, who have organised the visit.

After Vancouver and Victoria on Vancouver Island, they will travel to Toronto and then to Newfoundland.

This will be an opportunity to learn more about new expressions of church as well as various community and social ministries involving lay people.

The itinerary runs from 3rd - 16th September and Elaine would value your prayers as she travels across Canada and meets with leaders and members of the UCC.

Please pray:

  • For safe travel for Elaine and Sandra

  • For a sense of God's presence as they meet and engage with people in various contexts

  • For building good relationships with our brothers and sisters in Canada

  • That Elaine's sharing in various services will be used by God
