Rooted in Hope Through Changing Seasons

As autumn gives way to winter, the world around us begins to change once more. The evenings draw in and the air grows cooler, yet even in the darker days we are reminded that God’s light and faithfulness remain. Life has seasons too - times of activity and rest, of letting go and starting afresh and through each one, God walks beside us with hope and strength.
Recently we have celebrated Harvest, giving thanks for God’s goodness and provision. Harvest reminds us to pause and notice the blessings we sometimes take for granted — food, friendship, fellowship, and the faithfulness of God through another year. It is also a reminder that what is rooted in faith, prayer, and kindness can bear fruit in ways we may not always see.
For many women, this time of year can feel very demanding, with school routines settling, work and church life growing busy, and darker evenings drawing in. Yet these months also bring opportunities for encouragement, friendship, and faith to shine. Across Ireland may we as Methodist women in Ireland continue to bless one another in simple but meaningful ways by meeting together, praying faithfully, sharing friendship, and offering steady support to those who need it.
I give thanks for each branch and its members and encourage you to continue creating warm and welcoming spaces. Every meeting held, every cup of tea shared, every small act of kindness becomes a quiet blessing and matters more than we realise. A simple conversation can lift someone’s whole week. Keep sharing stories of God’s goodness, because hearing how He has helped others can be uplifting to us. Notice those who may be standing on the edges and remember that a gentle invitation can make all the difference. Please continue to appreciate the gifts within your groups, knowing that every woman brings something special. Let us as living letters, carry the message of Christ not only in our words, but in our welcome, our prayers, our kindness, and our care for one another.
Hebrews reminds us: “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” Hope is often quiet and steady, just like the faithful work of MWI women across Ireland.
As we move towards Advent and the busy weeks ahead, I look forward to seeing you at our Annual online carol service on Friday 4th December at 7.30p.m.
As I finish writing, MWI has just heard the news that Louise Wilson has been elected as World President of World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women. We wish Louise God’s Richest Blessing as she continues to Know Christ & To Make Him Known.
Whatever this season may hold for you, I pray that God’s peace steadies your heart, His hope renews your spirit, and His strength carries you through each day.
