A Celebration Evening in Lisbellaw Methodist Church
Lisbellaw Methodist Church was filled with joy and thanksgiving for a very special Celebration Evening, as Claire McKeown was welcomed and installed as Vice President of the North Western District of Methodist Women in Ireland.
The evening began with a wonderful spirit of praise and worship. Hymns, prayers and the ministry of the choir helped to create a warm and uplifting atmosphere as we gathered to celebrate Claire and to give thanks for all that God has done through the North Western District.
John McConnell, Lay Evangelist, introduced the evening and welcomed all who had given of their time to be here to mark such a special occasion. Claire was then interviewed, giving everyone an opportunity to hear something of her faith, her hopes and her vision for the years ahead. It was a lovely way to get to know Claire better and to hear her enthusiasm for taking on this new role.
We were also privileged to hear Alison speak about her past two years as Vice President. Her reflections, memories and words of encouragement reminded us of the many blessings and opportunities that have been experienced during her time of service. We give thanks for all that Alison has contributed and for the faithful way in which she has served the women of the North Western District.
A particularly significant part of the evening was the installation of Claire as Vice President, conducted by All-Ireland President Alexa Brown. Through prayer and words of encouragement, Claire was commissioned for the responsibility and privilege that lies ahead. We pray that God will guide, strengthen and bless her as she begins this new chapter of service.
The formalities were followed by a wonderful supper, providing plenty of opportunity for conversation, laughter and fellowship. It was a fitting conclusion to an evening marked by friendship, faith and celebration.
It truly was a blessing all round – a time to celebrate Claire, to give thanks for Alison’s ministry, to enjoy fellowship together and, above all, to recognise God’s presence among us.
We wish Claire every blessing as she begins her two years as Vice President of the North Western District, and pray that she will know God’s guidance and strength in all that lies ahead.
