Christmas Greetings 2025

Dear Sisters in Christ,

As we come back to the Christmas story once again, I'm so grateful for each one of you across the branches, districts, and every group of Methodist Women in Ireland. This past year has shown, yet again, that you are women of strength, compassion, and steady faith. In both joyful moments and challenging ones, you've continued to serve Christ with grace, courage, and generosity.

John 1:5 reminds us that "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." What a promise to hold onto. Jesus came not only to redeem us, but to connect us—to draw us together in love, fellowship, and shared purpose. Every act of kindness, every prayer, every moment spent supporting one another strengthens our mission of knowing Christ and making Him known.

My theme during my term as president-"Staying Connected to God and to Each Other" — has guided me throughout the year. As we reflect on the birth of Jesus, the One who brings us close to God and to one another, this theme feels even more meaningful. I've been deeply encouraged by the ways you've lived it out: staying close to God through prayer and worship, and staying close to one another through encouragement, compassion, and practical help. Whether gathering in person or reaching out across districts and across the island, you've shown what it means to be women shaped by Christ's love.

As we celebrate Jesus' birth, may we keep nurturing these connections. Christmas is, at its core, a story of God coming close-choosing to be with us, to walk beside us.

My prayer for you this Christmas is that God will surround you with:

  • Peace that settles anxious thoughts

  • Hope that refreshes your spirit

  • Joy that lifts your heart

  • Love that spills over into the lives of others

May the angels' message in Luke 2:10-"Do not be afraid... I bring you good news of great joy"-speak to you in a new way this season. And may the presence of Emmanuel, God with us, lead you into the New Year with confidence in His unfailing love and faithfulness.

Let's keep walking this journey together, encouraging and supporting one another, showing what it looks like when women of faith stand side by side-rooted in hope and led by the Spirit.

Thank you for your dedication, your prayers, and your willingness to serve. It's a privilege to walk with you as we continue the work God has given us.

Wishing you a peaceful and joy-filled Christmas,

Alexa
