Visit from Togo

Rev Kpavuvu meets David Turtle, Laurence Graham and Heather Morris

Rev Godson Lawson Kpavuvu, President of the Methodist Church of Togo (EMT), recently visited Ireland. He met with MCI President Rev David Turtle, General Secretary Rev Heather Morris, and WMP General Secretary Rev Laurence Graham. He also had the chance to visit the Methodist Historical Society archives, in Edgehill House.

During his time with World Mission Partnership, Rev Kpavuvu discussed the challenges facing Methodists in Togo including the increasing levels of Jihadist violence in the North of the country. In response to this issue, the Methodist Church Togo is joining with other churches in West Africa to find ways to improve Christian-Muslim relations, through the recently revived Fellowship of Christian Councils and Churches in West Africa (FECCIWA). FECCIWA will also address other issues which churches in the region have in common, such as food security and gender-based violence.

Rev Kpavuvu shared an update on two ministers whose training WMP have supported, and discussed ways that Methodists in Ireland and Togo might work together in the future. Stay tuned for updates on those!
