Melissa Newell: Newsletter April 2026 (Part 1)

In part one of Melissa’s April 2026 newsletter she shares with us the busyness of March.

Melissa was able to make a long-awaited visit to the Antioch Christian Academy, where some of the local girls attend school and board, with modes of transport for the 2.5 hour journey including a canoe and a wheelbarrow! On their journey, Melissa got a glimpse of the devastating impact of mining activities in the region, with noise pollution affecting life for residents and run off from mining damaging the rivers - the lifeblood of most communities in the Amazon. The newsletter ends with updates from a busy Holy Week, with a 24/7 prayer course, preaching in Misahuallí Methodist Church and a traditional dish made from 12 kinds of pulses and beans!
