Prayers of Solidarity: Togo
The Methodist Church in Ireland has many international partnerships through its World Mission Partnership department and also its World Development & Relief department. Each week, WMP or WDR share a Prayer of Solidarity for MCI’s global partners.
Our own Southern District is linked with the church in Togo for the next few years for learning and mission. The pandemic has slowed the progress of building the link but we can still be learning about and praying for each other. Many of the Togolese congregations are to the south but they have a fervent missionary heart and are pushing into the north and planting churches despite lacking material resources. Under recent new leadership, the church is focused upon addressing the many spiritual and social needs in the country.
Let us pray for our world church partners in Togo at this time.
God of Order,
We ask that you use your church to bring harmony and calm to the people in Togo in their families, workplaces and communities.
May the Methodist President, Rev. Godson Lawson, lead wisely and with vision.
We pray for the church’s plan to evangelise into non-Christian areas, especially in the north.
Give evangelists opportunities and courage but also sensitivity when sharing the gospel.
May the envisioned church radio station come into being and be sustainable.
May the church be able to speak and act in such a way as to shape society:
Where there are unwanted pregnancies, malnutrition, gender-based violence and a need for proper care for those with psychological disabilities.
May Methodist Church Togo be a prophetic voice and witness and may they challenge us to be the same.
Amen
