Sheila Norris visits the Church of Bangladesh

Global Relationships News

‘At the beginning of March, Partnership Coordinator Sheila Norris was invited to be one of the international guests at the Celebrations in Dhaka of the 50th  Anniversary of the Church of Bangladesh, and the 200th Anniversary of St Thomas Cathedral.  The celebrations had clearly involved an enormous amount of preparation, including a video introducing all aspects of the church’s work. Moderator Bishop Mankhin affirmed the value that is placed on partnership, gave thanks for past support, and asked for continued prayer into the future.  Sheila had a chance to update the gathering for the Church of Bangladesh anniversary on the current situation of MCB.  In response, the Moderator explained to those gathered that the recent Capacity Building grant from MCB is being used for work to establish a strategic policy for the Church of Bangladesh, which will make it the first Protestant church in Bangladesh to have one in place.  He expressed his gratitude, and his hope that our partnership will find new ways of expression going forward.’
