SAT-7: Broadcasting Hope
Most of World Mission Partnership’s work is carried out in partnership with other Methodist Churches around the world. However, there are aspects of mission which extend beyond individual denominations – work like translating Scripture, or reaching people in countries where few churches exist.
This Easter, as we meet to celebrate Christ’s death and resurrection, it’s important to remember our brothers and sisters in places where many Christians face persecution, and churches are often unable to meet openly. For these believers, organisations like SAT-7 UK play a vital role.
“Using satellite television, social media, and digital technology, SAT-7 can bypass barriers of censorship and illiteracy. Broadcasting 24/7 in Arabic, Turkish and Farsi, we bring Scripture, joy and hope to peoples in such different cultures and contexts.” - Alan Cousins
SAT-7 KIDS is watched by millions of children in this region, where the average age is much younger than here in the West. In 2023, JMA groups raised funds to support an outreach programme in Egypt based on “Kingo” - one of SAT-7 Kid’s most beloved characters.
Through World Mission Partnership, Irish Methodists have given £5,000 (€5,679) to support SAT-7’s ministry in North Africa.
If you’d like to learn more about their work, Alan Cousins (SAT-7’s Ireland Representative, based in Westport) would be delighted to hear from you. He is available for speaking engagements in churches or with groups, and can also share helpful materials such as prayer resources. You can contact Alan by phone on 098 25127, or WhatsApp on +44 75 22 33 45 55, or email acousins@sat7uk.org
