Pray for Haiti

Haiti is a Caribbean country with a population of 11 million people. 59% of Haitians live below the poverty line. In 2010, a devastating earthquake killed more than 200,000 people. MCI has connections to Haiti through the Methodist Church there and those who have served as mission partners in recent years.

An earthquake hit Haiti on Saturday 14 August. At time of writing, over 1,900 have died, an unknown number are missing and more than nearly 10,000 have been injured. The disaster compounds problems facing the impoverished nation, which is already reeling from a political crisis following the assassination of its president last month.

Let us pray for Haiti at this time.

God of rescue,
As we see the devastation of another earthquake in Haiti, we pray:
For those who have lost loved ones.
God, comfort them so that they may know your love and care.
For those waiting for news of a missing person.
God, may they know your peace.
For those still trapped in the rubble, waiting desperately to be found,
God, may they know your presence and know that they are seen by you.
For the rescue teams, hospitals and those providing care,
God, protect, sustain, and guide them. Keep them safe.
For the humanitarian aid that will be sent,
God, may it bring hope and life-saving opportunities.
For the nation of Haiti,
God, we pray for restoration, healing, and unity.
Amen.
