Opportunity to serve with UMC Copenhagen

The United Methodist Church in Copenhagen is looking for two 18-30 year olds to intern with ‘MSA’ for one year, starting August or early September 2023.

MSA (Metodistkirkens Sociale Arbejde) is a non-profit charity organization situated in the heart of Copenhagen next to the UMC Jerusalemskirken since 1910. MSA runs a café for homeless and vulnerable people who drop in for a light meal, a coffee, a shower, and a chat. The café is open all year round, Monday - Friday. During the winter season, they offer free meals to around 50 people on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. MSA also offers supported housing for socially disadvantage people, runs a dormitory for students, organises camps and outings, various outreach events, and overall offers practical help for people in need.

Job description:

Most of the work will be in the café where you will help cooking, serve the food and clean up after the meals. During the winter, you will help serving free meals three times a week, hand out clothes to people in need and simply just be around to make our guests feel welcome.  You will help handing out Christmas aid and participate in all sorts of events, outings, and camps for single parents. An important part of the job is to be welcoming and open to people with all sorts of challenges.

MSA will provide interns with food and accommodation, and DKK 3000 per month (£350/€400) for 37 hours work per work.

For details on how to apply, please contact WMP Coordinator David Nesbitt.
Applications close on Thursday 1 June 2023.
