Meet the Lurgan Team to Latvia
This summer, Methodists from Lurgan will be joining God’s mission in Latvia.
Wesley Camp, near Vērgale in Latvia, is a place where children and young people can encounter God. Last year, a team from the Container Ministry helped to construct a zipwire, slide and ropes course at the camp. Inspired by their example, this summer a team of 9 young people and 6 adults from High Street Methodist will be following in their footsteps. The team will be running a children’s camp for 7 to 10 year olds, taking the lead with the teaching and youth activities.
The team are raising funds for their visit, and have already received more than £2,600 in donations! On top of that, through World Mission Partnership, Irish Methodists are supporting the team with a grant of £2,650. WMP are delighted to support the team as they partner in mission with our Methodist brothers and sisters in Latvia.
The team still need help to meet their fundraising target, and they have organised further fundraising events including a Towpath Run on 5th April. You can give to the team via JustGiving: www.justgiving.com/page/hsmlatvia2025 .
The team would value your prayers as they make preparations. This is an exciting opportunity, and for many of the team it is their first time experiencing church in another country. Please pray that God will keep them safe, and that He will work through each person to reach the children and young people who attend Wesley Camp.
