Lay Leader visits the Holy Land

Mrs Hazel Loney, Lay Leader of the Methodist Church in Ireland, is currently in the Holy Land.
She has spent time with Mr Peter Nasir from East Jerusalem YMCA (one of MCI’s World Development & Relief partners), visited the Mount of Olives and the Tent of Nations.

Hazel is travelling with her husband, Bobby, and Deacon Angleena Kezier. Angleena is a mission partner serving at the Methodist Liaison Office in Jerusalem. The Methodist Liaison Office in Jerusalem is a partnership of the World Methodist Council, the Methodist Church of Britain and The United Methodist Church. Its purpose is to increase international awareness and involvement of the Methodist community in the issues of Israel/Palestine.

Earlier this week Hazel travelled to Hebron where she met Laila.
Laila runs her own fair trade shop in a local market and is the only female business-owner in that market.

Please continue to pray for Hazel, Bobby and Angleena as they travel in the coming days, particularly in light of heightened tensions following the death of Shireen Abu Aqla, who was killed while covering a raid by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.
