JMA 2022-23: Small Things, Big Difference

THIS YEAR, JMA TAKES US TO A CHURCH ON THE EDGE OF THE AMAZON RAINFOREST!

We’ll be learning about the Methodist Church in Ecuador and particularly their work with children and young people. We’ll visit Misahualli, a small town on the edge of the Amazon which is filled with bright colours, incredible foods and exotic creatures – including some very cheeky monkeys!

Along the way, we’ll meet Pastor Fabiola and her daughter Febe, and also get an update from Melissa Newell (an Irish Methodist Mission Partner serving in Ecuador).

Funds raised by JMA from September 2023-June 2024 will be sent to the Methodist Church in Ecuador, to support the work of the congregation in Misahualli. Funds will be used for a Community Lunch programme serving malnourished children, and for construction of a church building which will house a new congregation in Ongota.

Our Bible focus this year is the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand. We’ll learn how one little boy’s lunch was enough to feed thousands of people, because God can use small things (and small children!) to do incredible things!

We hope and pray that children, young people and church families will be encouraged by this year’s JMA as we learn about Ecuador and the work of the Methodist Church there, and are reminded that God can use even the smallest things to make a really big difference.
