Bishop Bannie Manga, Methodist Church The Gambia, visits Ireland

Bishop Manga and Rev Michael Spence at Glengormley Methodist Church.

This weekend past WMP had the pleasure of welcoming Rev Bannie Manga, Presiding Bishop of Methodist Church The Gambia.

On Sunday morning, Bishop Manga received a warm welcome in Glengormley Methodist Church for their annual World Mission service. The Bishop spoke about ministry in The Gambia, and Rev Michael Spence shared some learning from his recent visit to South Africa, as we considered how Methodists around the world are sharing The Gospel “By All Means”.

On Sunday evening, Bishop Manga was hosted by Rev Jackie Whittle and her husband Trevor (who cooks a fine steak!), and Ruth Wilson (former Mission Partner in the Gambia). Fivemiletown Methodist Church was the venue for a District-wide World Mission service. Worship was led by the Fivemiletown Praise Team, with solos from Alison Humphreys (MWI). Afterwards, an excellent supper was provided!

On Monday, Bishop Manga visited the Container Ministry and the wonderful team of volunteers who make it all possible.

It's a privilege for us to welcome leaders from our World Church family to Ireland; these times spent together help us to strengthen our connections and learn from one another. Thank you to those who hosted the Bishop, joined us for worship and met with us over the course of the weekend.
