WORKING WITH wdr partner, dabane trust water workshops, zimbabwe
“I assist the chair and vice chair of our water pipe committee. If they aren’t available I can call a meeting. Or if our caretaker is not available I can help with his duties. It is cost effective.
Before the pipe and solar panels, we were using a diesel pump to fill our JoJo storage tank. The solar pump is financially so much better. We used to go 30k to Botswana to buy the diesel. There were plenty of times when we had no diesel so had no water for a long time.
Now, people are putting up small gardens and we have fresh vegetables. School kids would carry their bottles to school and if they forgot, they had no water all day. But now they have a pump at the school and they can fill up their bottles anytime. It is the same for patients at the clinic. Because we have water, we were able to construct a cottage here for the nursing staff. Our donkeys are relived too! They were very tired doing long walks for water many times a day in the heat. Thank you for the support you have given us- we now have clean water.”
