“I [Khonzuvise] am unemployed. I used to work in one of the factories making boilers but I lost my job when they brought in technology meaning that coal was not so widely used. For the 2010 World Cup here in South Africa, they built a new highway right through our area. Before the bridge was built, children were being hit by cars. On the other side of the road, people got funding for new houses but we were left behind.

If it rains, our homes flood and there aren’t enough toilets. Church Land Programme have been helpful in getting us tools so we can grow vegetables."
