President attends 150th anniversary service

The Parish of St Matthew’s on Belfast’s Woodvale Road have been celebrating the 150th anniversary of their present church.

Rev Dr Sahr Yambasu.

But the history in reality stretches back to pre-Christian times. It also has a close connection to the wider history and growth of Belfast.

Among the invited guests was the President who was invited to bring the greetings of the Methodist Church in Ireland. He spoke of the friendship which had been enjoyed between St. Matthew’s and the Methodist churches in the area.

The preacher at the service was the Rt. Rev. John McDowell who looked back on the history of St. Matthew’s and encouraged the congregation to serve the present and press on into the future with confidence.
