The Council on Social Responsibility (Southern Executive) welcomes the recent comments by President Higgins criticising gambling advertising on national television. The sudden appearance of expensive adverts glorifying gambling along with the growth in online gambling has given us renewed concern this year, given its impact on many lives and broken relationships. We look forward to mature and helpful public discussion on this in the coming months.
