Together in Faith & Fellowship: An MWI Christmas Greeting

As Christmas lights brighten our towns and villages across Ireland, I send warm wishes to everyone. Amid the cards, gatherings and preparations, this season invites us to cherish what matters most: our faith, the people around us and the hope we share.

Looking back on the year within MWI, we give joyful thanks for God’s faithfulness and the friendship that has sustained us. To our officers, branches, groups, and members: thank you for every kindness, warm welcome and act of care. You have brought hope, shared joy, and shown love in countless ways. What a blessing to carry these gifts into the year ahead!

I always love hearing from district officers and members and learning how your programmes are unfolding. Each gathering offers a chance to reconnect, welcome someone new and grow together in faith. From monthly Zoom gatherings and praise evenings to breakfasts, talks, craft sessions, outings and fellowship luncheons, there is so much to enjoy. These occasions brighten our days and deepen our sense of belonging.

Our All-Ireland gatherings bring us together too. The annual Carol Service will be held on Zoom on Friday, 4 December 2026 at 19:30. We look forward to celebrating the Christmas story with familiar friends and fresh faces alike.

As the evenings draw in, Advent invites us to prepare our hearts and reflect on its precious gifts: Hope, Joy, Love and Peace.

Hope reminds us that Christ’s light is with us, even on the darkest days. May the assurance of God’s faithful love give us fresh courage for the days ahead.

Joy meets us in simple gifts: a friendly conversation, a shared laugh or time with friends. May we savour these moments give thanks for the fellowship we enjoy and share a little of that joy with those around us.

Love is at the heart of our Advent journey. Held in God’s boundless love, we can offer a thoughtful message, a helping hand or time to listen, reminding someone that they matter and are not alone.

Peace amid the busyness invites us to take a gentle breath and rest in Christ’s presence. May we treasure those calm moments which shape the way we listen and care for one another.

Within our MWI groups, there is a place for everyone. If you have not yet joined us, come just as you are and enjoy the company and share in the joy of growing together. Whether you are returning or meeting us for the first time, a warm welcome awaits.

At Christmas, let us celebrate the birth of Jesus and the precious promise that God is with us. May that truth touch our hearts afresh - we are deeply loved, and we do not journey alone. Let us make room for one another, not only at our tables, but in our time, our prayers, and our hearts. May the wonder of His birth renew our faith and inspire us to share His light through our everyday acts of love in the coming year.

I wish you and your loved ones a blessed Advent and Christmas. May you find hope for the days ahead, moments of joy to treasure, comfort in friendship and peace in Christ’s love. With heartfelt thanks for all we have shared, may God bless you throughout this season and the year to come.
