Being Church

A reflective tool for church leaders, based on learning from the Methodist Church in South Africa. Including learning on knowing the community, ageing congregations and hospitality & pastoral care.

BY ALL MEANS

For Guyanese Methodists, loving their neighbours means respecting the freedom to follow their chosen faith - but it also means finding effective ways of sharing the unique and transformational message of Jesus Christ.

Through “friendship evangelism”, offering affordable childcare, community gardens and paying for street signs that include a Bible verse, Guyanese Methodists demonstrate God’s love in the little things of everyday life. After centuries of experience in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious culture, they’ve found that this is the best way to witness.

As Ireland becomes ever more multicultural, is there something we can learn from these approaches?
