This exciting new series of resources including youth group material, Sunday School sessions, children’s talks and a Holiday Bible Club, is built on questions raised by children and young people regarding theology and discipleship.
BACKGROUND
At Autumn Soul 2023 and Soul Mates 2024, we gathered questions from the young people and children to build a sense of what was on their hearts. We were amazed at the depth of their questions and delighted to see a hunger for theology and discipleship.
Questions included:
If God is omnipotent, why does cancer happen?
Are God and Jesus two people or just one?
What is the best way to read the Bible?
Why do we need/read the Bible?
Does God love Satan?
Why do some people seem so happy and connected in faith and others seem so distant?
How can we deal with being overwhelmed with things to do with God?
How do you know God listens to your prayers?
How do you know what God is trying to tell you?
When you were 15/16 did you find it hard or embarrassing or uncomfortable to tell people you were a Christian?
What is the best way to connect with God?
Why is it good to be in Church?
When did you realise you wanted to tell others about God?
Why do we sing songs? What do they mean?
The range of topics have formed the basis for lots of IMYC’s content in the past year, from Soul Mates Praise Parties to Autumn Soul Dublin and our exciting new resource Exploring Faith.
Exploring Faith includes a series of children’s talks, youth group Bible studies, Sunday School sessions and a holiday Bible club.
All are designed to help create space for children and young people to explore their questions. We plan to continue building on these resources and hearing from young people and children. We pray for many conversations and sparks from the Spirit that will encourage children to continue exploring their faith.
