Lucy Meara, one of our pathways volunteers, was down at soul mates house party in cork, and shares some of her thoughts!
The Soulmates House Party Cork has been a prized annual event for many years . This year, I had the chance to experience it firsthand through the Pathways Programme, and it exceeded all expectations.
The event was led by an incredible team of volunteers. Together, they guided over 30 kids through many activities, including moviemaking, small-group discussions, and crafts.
The energy was electric, especially during the action-packed worship songs like Praise, Great Great, Brill Brill, Wicked Wicked, Skill Skill, and Joy. The kids (and adults) couldn’t get enough!
One of the highlights was the movie-making activity—something I’d never seen at a soulmates event before, but it was a huge hit. Each small group was given a Bible story, a theme, and a specific line to base their two-minute films around. The kids took on starring roles, and the creativity flowed alongside with the chaos. By Saturday night, the movie premiere was in full swing, and everyone loved watching the final creations. The excitement and energy from the moviemaking even rivalled the competitive spirit of the Dodgeball tournament!
The fun of Saturday didn't just stop there with the brand-new sensation DJ Lisa taking to the decks the kids danced their hearts (and energy) away just before bedtime!
We were also treated to absolute delicacies by Sonja, the volunteer cook, whose skills left us all in awe. It’s safe to say the kids had an unforgettable time. Soulmates House Party in Cork truly creates a magical 24 hours where kids can make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and draw closer to God.
