CONFERENCE 2024 HIGHLIGHTS

Since 2022 we have taken the vision statement of the Methodist Church in Ireland as our theme for focus and prayer.

In 2022/23, the Rev David Nixon helped us to think about what it meant to live wholeheartedly. In 2023/24, the Rev David Turtle challenged us to think about how we are together, followers of Jesus.  This Connexional year, we will dwell with the final part of the vision statement and the Rev Dr John Alderdice will invite us to think about how we are called to transform the world.

As we hear this call ‘for the transformation of the world,’ we hear it in light of the Great Commission from Jesus (Matt 28:16-20) and understand the responsibility and the urgency that it places before us; that as transformed people, changed by the love and grace of Christ, we must become transformers of the world around us, trusting that it is the power of Christ within us that does the work.

The President guided us through this journey at the Conference, and beyond the Conference we are inviting you together as Societies and Circuits to have Transforming Conversations.

This year’s Pastoral Address begins to resource us with ways to have conversations together that seek to celebrate all that God is already doing among us and invite God to stir up a passion within us for more, more of Him for ourselves and more of Him for this world.

We are expectant and hope-filled for what God will to do in His Church in this year ahead.

During the 2024/25 Connexional Year local churches are invited to have Transforming Conversations that invite you to reflect on the story of your Church, and to be challenged to think and reflect about how we are, together, involved in Christ’s work of transformation in this world.
