JMA: Supporting ministry in Poland

Last year, JMA raised money for children’s and youth ministry in MCI’s sister churches.

Thanks to all the children and young people who took part in our “Great Big Global Family” campaign, and all the adults who supported them, WMP were able to send a grant of €10,575 to the United Methodist Church in Poland. This grant will be used support UMC Poland’s children’s summer programme, which has become a key part of their youth ministry

UMC Poland is a small church, with around 2,500 members. They are linked to MCI’s North Western District, and in recent years Ministers from both countries have been visiting and learning from each other.

UMC Poland’s youth ministry programme is headed by Rev. Damian Szczepańczyk and his wife Anna. Damian says that the church in Poland “treat working with children as a priority [and] see the need to work at the grass roots.”

Each summer, they run a children’s summer camp in Kielce, a small city a few hours South of Warsaw. The camp caters for children from all over the country, and has been so popular that they are hoping to run a second one! In addition to this camp, they also organise a series of picnics for children, and an “Indian Village” which focuses on outdoor activities and is supported by volunteers from across Poland – and beyond.
