MCI Mission Associate Gavin Taylor shares an update from Uganda, where he is serving with EMI.

“I have been in Kajjansi for almost four weeks now, and so much has happened in that time. I have been settling into living in a new culture, working at the EMI office, and getting plugged into church life. It has been an amazing experience so far, and I am looking forward to what the rest of my time here has in store.

I am currently volunteering with a Christian non-profit called Engineering Ministries International (EMI). EMI's mission is to develop people, design structures, and construct facilities which serve communities and the Church. I am working in their Structural Engineering team to help them in the projects they are working on. So far been involved with the design of a church building and ministry centre for a ministry called Wings of Refuge, and an extension for a Christian hospital called Maranatha. EMI is able to design and construct facilities for these organisations that help them to do the work God has set before them in Uganda. The ministry of Maranatha hospital, for example, is fascinating, as each patient hears the gospel shared during their time receiving treatment. The new buildings EMI are designing will allow them to increase their capacity and serve their community better.

I have also had the opportunity to help at a youth club run by Kampala International Church. It has been so good to get to know some of the young people that come along, and to open the Bible with them. As time goes on, I hope to get more involved with the church here.
